Yamaha Prepares Funds to Attract Jorge Martin

RiderTua.com – Does Yamaha have a chance to get Jorge Martin next year? Reportedly he will have the option to move to Yamaha next year. Now moving from Pramac Ducati to a struggling Japanese brand makes no sense, as it would mean swapping the best bike on the MotoGP track for the worst bike. However, many things can change in 1 year and Yamaha continues to closely monitor Martin’s situation. It’s not cheap to get a fast rider…

Martin has twice missed out on promotion to the factory Ducati team and has made it clear that if he does not wear the red racing shirt in 2025, he is threatening to quit the factory that dominates MotoGP.

Yamaha Prepares Funds to Attract Jorge Martin

Fermin Aldeguer – Jorge Martin

Motosprint media reports that Yamaha officials in Iwata are preparing a budget to tempt Jorge Martin to move to Yamaha. But Martin was only interested in a competitive bike so Yamaha faced extra pressure to improve the M1.

A move from the Ducati satellite team to the factory team would result in a pay rise, as Luca Marini has enjoyed since swapping his GP23 for a Honda RC213V. On the other hand, it is very likely that Martin will use a less competitive bike next season (Yamaha).

But if he intends to leave Ducati to pursue a position at the factory, what else makes sense? Even KTM and Aprilia, although ahead of Yamaha and Honda, lag behind used Ducati bikes (which are 1 year old) except in the case of Brad Binder in Qatar.

Ducati has also officially confirmed Fermin Aldeguer’s contract for MotoGP 2025. Although it has not been confirmed which team he will be assigned to, the likely landing place is Pramac. That means Martin or his teammate Franco Morbidelli will lose their seats next year.

Aldeguer’s arrival into the Ducati team definitely raises the stakes and may give other manufacturers the impetus to tempt riders with knowledge and experience with the Desmosedici.

Yamaha knows that they have to fight to keep their own star rider, Fabio Quartararo. And Aprilia is believed to be interested in him. If they lose Quartararo, their budget will be drained to get another big name like Martin.

Yamaha could gain two additional spots in 2025 if they agree terms to take over the VR46 satellite team. The VR46 team (which currently has Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio di Giannantonio as its riders) is in talks to remain at Ducati but has not yet signed a contract. And Valentino Rossi wants to maintain good relations with Yamaha.
