RiderTua.com – BAIC is present for the first time in Indonesia and immediately introduces two of its flagship SUVs. The highlight is the BJ40-Plus model, which has a retro-modern design and is equipped with a turbo engine. The BAIC BJ40-Plus is often touted as a challenger to Jeep, especially the Wrangler model. Even in terms of price, it is quite affordable for an SUV like this.
BAIC BJ40-Plus Becomes New Opponent for Jeep Wrangler
Retro-style SUV cars are now the target of many people in Indonesia, both old and new models. It’s just that most new models are sold at quite expensive prices, such as the Jeep Wrangler which can exceed IDR 1 billion. But this is clear because the model was imported from abroad in CBU form, and that also includes the quality it has.
As if seeing an opportunity in this market, BAIC brought the BJ40-Plus in Indonesia apart from the X55-II. Like the Wrangler, the BJ40-Plus has a dashing model and can be taken on various types of roads, including off-road. BAIC has provided a number of off-road supporting features such as an electronic transfer case with center differential lock, as well as four-wheel drive.

More Affordable Prices
Even though it is an SUV that challenges the Wrangler, the BJ40-Plus has slightly smaller dimensions than its rival. And of course BAIC uses a ladder frame chassis to provide a tougher SUV. Of course, with the support of other features to provide maximum comfort for its users.
In its hometown, the BJ40-Plus actually has three engine choices, but in Indonesia it only gets one variant. Namely a 2,000 cc 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 221 hp and 380 Nm of torque, and equipped with an 8-speed transmission from ZF Friedrichschafen. Although the price will not be announced until the GIIAS 2024 exhibition is held, it is likely that BAIC will sell it for around IDR 800 million, and this price already makes it more affordable than the Wrangler.
