RiderTua.com –  Pedro Acosta can now ‘beat’ Marc Marquez in a race (overtake him), where previously Marc also did it with Valentino Rossi. Pedro Acosta continues to influence Spanish society, especially motorsport fans. The rider from Murcia impressed with his natural and spontaneous attitude and of course with the results he achieved on the track. The 2021 Moto3 Champion and 2023 Moto2 Champion have exceeded many high expectations when entering MotoGP.

If in Qatar he was a phenomenal up-and-coming rider, and his ridiculous race tire setup fiasco made the headlines, then in Portugal he took a huge step forward in terms of maturity as a rider. He took advantage of technical problems that occurred on the Aprilia bike ridden by Maverick Vinales to finish on the MotoGP podium, ahead of eight-time world champion Marc Marquez and fellow two-time premier class champion Pecco Bagnaia (P-3) for the first time.

That’s why Acosta got the chance to be interviewed before leaving for Austin for the Americas GP. One of the Spaniard’s main topics was overtaking Marquez at Portimao. Acosta likened their meeting on the track to past meetings between riders from Cervera and Valentino Rossi. A comparison Marc himself made recently. This is proof that Pedro has constant talent in MotoGP. “For me it seems easier than on TV. He did it (overtaking) with Rossi and now I do it too. You have to be the best. Keep doing that. Go out and create chaos. It’s fun,” he said.

Acosta also explained that he wanted to enjoy moments like 2022, while reflecting on the magnitude of change and suffering he experienced. I had fun and did well. ”I get paid to do what I do, so what more could I ask for? I can see how much I’ve changed since the World Championships. I came here when I was 16, and now that I’m almost 20, I’ve changed a lot. The first year went really well, the third year went really well, but the second year was tough at the start and I think I’m a different rider than when I first started. If I didn’t learn and mature, I would be out of this industry now (World Championships) because my speed wouldn’t be at the same level.”
