RiderTua.com – Tesla still has quite strong dominance in the global electric car market. However, in recent years, they have begun to lag behind a number of competitors such as BYD. Last year alone, Tesla’s BEV car sales were beaten by BYD, and even then by quite a large margin. Especially in Indonesia, where they don’t yet sell cars here, but their rivals have already started.
Tesla is Starting to Lag Behind Its Competitors in Indonesia
Regarding electric cars, Tesla can be said to be quite experienced in developing this type of car. One of them is even able to outperform the Nissan Leaf, which has long dominated the market, and now they offer a number of the best products. Including the Cybertruck pickup which was just launched last year.
However, in Indonesia, its presence is only limited as an imported car sold through Prestige Image Motorcars. Even then, only a handful of models are sold for more than IDR 1 billion because they are imported in CBU form from abroad. Tesla has repeatedly wanted to invest here, but it has never materialized until now.

BEV Car Market
Meanwhile, its strongest rival, BYD, has already started selling cars in Indonesia, by selling three electric cars, namely Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal. All three are sold for under IDR 800 million, and this alone is quite affordable for imported BEV cars. Although in future plans, BYD will produce its cars locally so that prices can be even cheaper.
When compared to Tesla, BYD now has dominance in the BEV car market in recent months. It is not surprising why this car brand is the brand that can beat Tesla’s global dominance. Especially regarding investment in electric cars in Indonesia, where BYD did it first.
