Hyundai Staria Presents Hybrid Variant, Only Sold in South Korea?

RiderTua.com – Hyundai has sold various SUVs in the global market. However, they still offer other types of cars, such as MPVs in the form of Stargazer and Staria. Hyundai has just launched a new variant for Staria, namely the hybrid variant. Even though it uses a 1,600 cc turbocharged petrol engine, its power is said to be quite optimal for an MPV of this size.

Hyundai Releases Hybrid Variant For Staria

Staria itself is still the favorite in the luxury MPV segment, not only abroad but also in Indonesia. This model is sold quite expensively, up to more than IDR 1 billion, but that is commensurate with the features it has. There are two engine variants available, although Hyundai only sells the diesel version, because the capacity of the petrol engine is said to be too large to be sold here.

However, with the development of electrification in the automotive market, Hyundai is presenting an environmentally friendly variant for Staria. Indeed, there are no significant differences in appearance outside or inside, except for the engine. Staria relies on a turbocharged hybrid engine with a capacity of 1,600 cc, much smaller than diesel and petrol engines which have a capacity of 2,200 cc and 3,500 cc.

Release on the Global Market?

Despite that, this new engine can produce a combined power of 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque. In fact, its performance is the most powerful when compared to the diesel and petrol versions, even with such a small engine capacity. It seems like Hyundai already knows how to make its hybrid engines have high performance.

Apart from the engine, there are not many changes made to this premium MPV model. The new Staria Hybrid is sold in South Korea at a price of IDR 404 million for the Cargo model and IDR 430 million for the Tourer model. Indeed, the price is much more affordable than the model in Indonesia because it is assembled locally there.

I don’t know if there is a chance that this new variant will be released in the global market too. Moreover, interest in hybrid cars on the European continent has been quite high in the last few months.
