RiderTua.com – Toyota didn’t launch many new cars at IIMS 2024 last month. However, they launched the Hilux Rangga, whose presence has been eagerly awaited since the model was first launched in Thailand last year. Toyota said many consumers bought it as a personal car. However, a number of companies also like this retro-modern style pickup car.
Toyota Hilux Rangga is Much Sought After by Indonesian Customers
Even though they still rely on the Hilux in the double cabin pickup segment, Toyota is presenting a new variant in the form of the Hilux Rangga. The model is a single cabin, but what makes it attractive is its carrying capacity and attractive design. So it’s not surprising why this car immediately became the spotlight at IIMS 2024 since it was first released.
Orders are still filled by consumers who buy cars as personal vehicles. However, because it is available as a commercial car, the Hilux Rangga is also starting to attract a number of companies to buy it. Toyota said around 40 companies showed interest in buying its new car.

Demand in the Pickup Car Market
Of course, it is no longer surprising if you look at the sales performance of pickup cars in Indonesia so far. Especially the Hilux which is still a double cabin or d-cab pickup which has been quite successful over the last few years. This is the reason for Toyota to present its new variant here, as well as to fill a market that has not been filled by its products.
Like the Hilux, the Hilux Rangga is still imported in CBU form or imported from Thailand. Despite the high demand in its market, Toyota chose not to produce it locally because the number of orders was not as high as expected. Moreover, they can still fulfill existing requests easily.
So far, Hilux remains the mainstay in the pickup segment. With the presence of the Hilux Rangga, Toyota can strengthen its position in this segment.
