Wuling Has the Opportunity to Develop its Own Electric Car
Of the number of models sold by Wuling in Indonesia, electric cars are the type of car that is widely sold in the four-wheeled market. Sales are also quite good, with thousands of units sold each year, or even more than that. The Binguo became its new flagship during the first quarter of this year, with thousands of units sold, while the Air EV only sold hundreds of units.
Wuling is actually able to assemble its electric cars locally, so there is no need to bring in units from abroad. But they actually also have the potential to develop their own electric cars, especially expanding their product line-up. Because most of them are hatchback models, Wuling could develop an electric-powered MPV.

Not Many Models for Sale Yet
Until now there have not been many electric MPVs sold in Indonesia, even if there are premium models such as the MG Maxus 9. Then Toyota has the Kijang Innova EV, but until now there has been no follow-up regarding when the model can be released in mass production. Wuling admits that it already has everything to develop its own electric MPV.
Still, they want to see what demand is like in their target markets. Of course Wuling wants to wait for the right time before it can sell its electric MPV car in Indonesia. It’s true that they don’t have a single model of this kind in their hometown, but there’s no harm in them developing it themselves.
