RiderTua.com – GAC Aion is another new car brand that will be present in Indonesia starting this year. Starting mid-year, they will sell two electric cars, namely the Aion Y Plus and Hyper HT. With the presence of GAC Aion in Indonesia, this means they will be facing a number of brands that also sell BEV cars such as Hyundai. Not to mention they have to face rivals from the same country, namely BYD.
GAC Aion will Compete in the Electric Car Market
If other brands sell conventional or ICE cars, GAC Aion is different, where they only sell electric cars. They have sold nine BEV models, but they will launch two models first in Indonesia. Even then, both are SUV models, namely the Aion Y Plus and Hyper HT.
Later, the Indomobil Group will sell the two electric cars. Because they are SUVs, the Aion Y Plus and Hyper HT are equal opponents for models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It doesn’t stop there, the Aion Y Plus itself will face off against its competitor from the same country, which is none other than the BYD Atto 3.
Competition will Get Tougher
Both BYD and Aion Y Plus are electric SUVs that are quite popular in their home countries. Sales are quite good, even though BYD can expand in the global market more quickly. As if not to be outdone, GAC Aion will also bring its superior product to Indonesia, although with two models for now.
Even though it is not well known here, GAC has actually collaborated with brands such as Toyota and Honda to sell its cars in the Bamboo Curtain country. It’s just that in Indonesia they will bring their own products, and of course in the form of electric cars which have been their mainstay so far. Even though they know BYD and other competitors are waiting in their market, they already have their own superior car.
In the future, Indomobil Group will assemble GAC electric cars in Indonesia. So the selling price can be more affordable.
