Pecco Bagnaia: the Bike is Much More Stable…don’t Feel Any Vibrations!

RiderTua.com – Pecco Bagnaia started Friday practice at Jerez with a problem on his Desmosedici GP24. What made the factory Ducati rider have to enter the pit after one lap and his crew looked very busy. However, a few minutes later, the rider from Turin, Italy continued his training and in the end Pecco was very satisfied with the results.

As is known, in the last few races Pecco has struggled with a bad vibration problem in his rear wheel, which has prevented him from reaching the podium in two consecutive series. However, the 27-year-old rider managed to take first place at the end of qualifying on Friday at Jerez and successfully set a new all-time lap record.

Pecco Bagnaia: Didn’t feel any vibrations

Francesco Bagnaia said that they chose a different strategy compared to usual Fridays. Used this day as a test and was able to try more things than usual. He was very happy. He didn’t feel any vibrations, although they usually only appear on Saturdays in sprint races.

“That’s why we keep it stable, but my feeling when braking and entering corners has improved. It’s much better, the bike is much more stable,” said the VR46 Riders Academy student.

Pecco Bagnaia – Smile

What problems did he face in FP1 at Jerez this time? “In the morning we had a little problem with the clutch. That could happen, the weather was cold and we didn’t expect it. I immediately noticed the problem in the first corner. We tried something new, but it can happen,” answered Pecco.

“In general, the bike feels better. Having a better feeling, it helps a lot to get a good position. We have improved the feeling when entering the corner, which in the end gives us a better position after the corner. I really enjoy riding in days like today,” added Carola Bagnaia’s sister (his personal assistant).

The new lap record Pecco set on Friday is simply incredible. “This year’s time record is truly extraordinary. Maybe Michelin himself didn’t expect this performance. The grip was much greater. In the end, the time record was much better, but we were always slower in the race,” explained teammate Enea Bastianini.

The 2-time MotoGP World Champion added that with his setting and racing style, in the last few weeks he always felt a disturbing vibration. He hopes to improve himself in dealing with this problem. When riders can understand tires, they can take the right steps.

So newcomers who don’t know last season’s tires have an advantage? “This is certainly an advantage for Pedro Acosta because he immediately started using this type of tire and was able to build and develop his racing style with it. He had no problems with the tire and could apply a lot of pressure. This is impressive,” concluded Pecco Bagnaia.
