Suzuki Jimny Still Can’t Be Assembled in Indonesia

RiderTua.com – Since Suzuki launched the Jimny in Indonesia, many consumers have been interested in this SUV. However, when they first introduced it, they were overwhelmed in meeting the existing demand, for both 3-door and 5-door models. So Suzuki was advised to assemble the Jimny locally to handle the backlog of orders. It’s just that making it happen is quite difficult given the existing limitations.

Suzuki Cannot Assemble Jimny in Indonesia

For cars that sell well in the market, such as the Jimny, manufacturers usually assemble them locally to speed up order fulfillment. But Suzuki does the opposite, where they still import models directly from Japan or India, depending on the model. Even though there were many orders that had to be fulfilled, it even led to long queues.

Despite the large demand in Indonesia, Suzuki still does not want to assemble the Jimny locally. Even with the high demand, it wasn’t enough to convince them to just assemble it. Moreover, to produce a car, they have to make an investment first and calculate how much money they have to spend to prepare the production site.

There’s Still a Chance

Despite these problems, Suzuki still does not rule out the possibility of assembling the Jimny 5-door locally. If you look at it, demand for this model is quite high, like the 3-door model when it was first launched. Because the units are assembled in India, there is a chance the model could be assembled in other countries if Maruti Suzuki is still busy dealing with domestic demand.

Suzuki still has to meet consumer demand by bringing in units from abroad for now. With the high number of orders, it is a bit difficult for them to fulfill them, but the situation will be like the previous 3-door model. Where in the next two or three years the backlog of orders will decrease, so that the waiting time for orders will be shorter.
