RiderTua.com – Previously, Hyundai announced the recall of hundreds of thousands of its electric cars in South Korea after a production defect was discovered. Not only the models, Genesis and Kia are also included in it, and must be addressed immediately. The problem is that the affected Hyundai cars include the Ioniq 5 and 6, and both are sold in Indonesia. Although only the Ioniq 6 has the potential to be recalled, considering the model is imported from South Korea.
As previously known, Hyundai announced a recall of 170 thousand units of its electric cars in its hometown. This was done after a potential problem was discovered with the car’s charging system software. If left untreated, the battery can lose power on its own, and can even stop the car on the road even though it was fully charged beforehand.
Therefore, Hyundai along with Genesis and Kia are recalling their electric cars in South Korea. There are several models being recalled, including the Ioniq 5 and 6 as well as the Kia EV6. The problem is that the Ioniq 6 and EV6 are also exported abroad, so countries like Indonesia have the potential to be affected by this recall.
Hyundai actually already knew this would happen, but for the recall in Indonesia it still had to wait for a decision from the principal. The Ioniq 5 is obviously not included as it is a locally assembled model, except for its twin from Kia, and the Ioniq 6. Still, they will let you know once they get further confirmation.
Meanwhile, sales of its electric cars in Indonesia are still quite good, with the Ioniq 5 still its best-selling model. It’s just that due to the condition of the car market throughout the last month, sales dropped drastically until the model sold less than 500 units. Obviously Hyundai can’t avoid it, but at least they are satisfied with the results obtained so far.
