Mazda will Assemble Compact Crossovers in Indonesia

RiderTua.com – Mazda, through Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), has confirmed that it will start building a car production factory here. That way, they can meet demand in the domestic market more quickly, and reduce imports from abroad. However, it is not yet clear which Mazda model will be assembled first. EMI had mentioned the compact crossover model that would be prioritized.

Mazda Ready to Start Local Car Assembly

The news that Mazda will assemble its cars in Indonesia is certainly good news. Because after all this time they can finally start production, and this can reduce car imports from Japan. It’s true that only one model will be assembled, but at least that’s enough to meet the high demand in the market.

Previously, Mazda said that the first model it would produce was a compact crossover model. This means it’s clear one of the models in the CX series will be assembled here, although they didn’t give any other indication. However, there is one model that is this type, namely the CX-30.

Reduce Imports

The name CX-30 is clearly familiar to consumers in Indonesia, considering that this model is sold for around IDR 570 million. That alone makes it one of Mazda’s biggest sales contributors so far. So it’s not surprising why the CX-30 was chosen to be assembled first, because demand was so high, it was overwhelming for them to fulfill it.

Even with the large number of orders, they felt it could be a good opportunity to strengthen their sales. Moreover, with the success of their entry level model in Indonesia, they have further solidified their plans to build a production factory here. At the same time, it can open up opportunities to export it.

Indeed, there are quite a lot of opportunities, but for now they are focused on preparing production. Including the models that will be assembled.
