RiderTua.com – Chery launched the Omoda E5 in Indonesia last February. It turns out that its launch at IIMS 2024 at that time also marked its first launch globally. But for some reason Chery just released its electric car in its hometown some time ago. Actually, they have their own reasons why the new Omoda E5 was released there.
Chery Omoda E5 Just Launched in the Land of Bamboo Curtain
Omoda E5 is an environmentally friendly variant of Omoda 5 which has been Chery‘s mainstay since it was first launched in Indonesia. From its appearance, it still looks similar to the conventional version, although the fascia is made more minimalist like electric cars in general. In addition, the E5 is equipped with electric technology which makes it more environmentally friendly.
Usually cars released in Indonesia have been launched in other countries before, especially in the country of origin of the car brand. But not all models are always like this, as Chery did with the Omoda E5. Indeed, a global launch has been carried out, but the model was only sold in the Land of Bamboo Curtain some time ago.

Global Release Prioritized
Chery could have launched the Omoda E5 in its hometown, but they preferred to release it first in Indonesia. Because they see the rapid development of the electric car market, and clearly they don’t want to miss this opportunity to release their newest BEV model. At the same time to expand its product line-up here and start assembling its first environmentally friendly car.
Apart from that, Indonesia is considered a global car sales center. So it’s not surprising why they chose to release the Omoda E5 here first rather than launching it in countries like Malaysia or England. Not only meeting demand in the domestic market, exports are also important for Chery.
