RiderTua.com – Double cabin or d-cab pickups were still able to record quite satisfactory sales results throughout last year. With models such as the Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, and Isuzu D-Max which are selling well in the market. However, if you look, the three double cabin pickup cars are still imported in CBU form. So the Indonesian government asks manufacturers to assemble them locally if possible.
Double Cabin Pickup Expected to Be Assembled in Indonesia
Sales of pickup cars, both single cabin and double cabin models, are still observed to be quite stable in Indonesia. Even with the market downturn, at least models like the Triton to the Hilux still have many fans here. Not only in Indonesia, many other countries in the Southeast Asia region are also looking for this type of car.
But if you pay attention, all three were imported directly from abroad, especially from Thailand. Indeed, unlike ordinary passenger cars, double cabin pickups are imported because manufacturers cannot assemble them locally. So this is what gave rise to plans to assemble it locally.

Too Many Imported Cars?
Indeed, if you look at it, there is quite a lot of demand for double cabin pickup cars in Indonesia, but manufacturers like Toyota see that this is not enough to convince them to assemble them locally. Some suspect that this is because too many cars are imported from abroad. Or it could be possible to add more exports to markets outside Southeast Asia.
But it seems that currently neither Mitsubishi, Toyota nor Isuzu have plans to assemble it even though there is demand. Moreover, Isuzu wants to focus on selling commercial vehicles, while MU-X and D-Max are still important in their respective segments. If there is indeed potential to produce it in Indonesia, they could reconsider it.
