Revealed! KTM and Yamaha Try to Hijack Pramac from Ducati

RiderTua.com – Pramac’s future as a Ducati satellite team is reportedly not guaranteed. For this reason, it is widely rumored that Pramac officials have held talks with KTM and Yamaha regarding moving their project.

Pramac have an exit clause in their Ducati contract that allows them to quit, and join another manufacturer in 2025. The Borgo Panigale factory has set a summer break deadline for Pramac to finalize their decision.

An unnamed source from Pramac confirmed, “Almost 100 percent, we will continue together.”

What was unexpected was the joining of Fermin Aldeguer, a young Moto2 talent whose contract signing was announced by Ducati. The 18-year-old rider will move up to MotoGP with Ducati next year, they confirmed but did not say which team he would ride for.

Pramac was tipped to be his berth but the lack of confirmation has cast doubt on the team’s future. If Pramac chooses to move, Aldeguer will obviously be placed at a different satellite Ducati team.

Currently with Jorge Martin and Franco Morbidelli as riders, Pramac has equipped the Desmosedici with the latest specifications, namely the best bike in MotoGP currently. However, Martin will definitely leave Paolo Campinoti’s team in 2025, to move to the Ducati factory team or a rival manufacturer. This clearly leaves a void for Aldeguer.

An alternative option for Pramac, as is known, Yamaha and KTM are both trying to increase their place on the grid. Currently Yamaha only runs two bikes but is looking to add a satellite team in 2025. KTM currently has the Tech3 GASGAS team but has ambitious growth plans.

Meanwhile, Ducati’s other satellite team VR46 is also thinking about their future. VR46 is using a 1 year old Desmosedici and the 2024 season is not going as they expected. Yamaha, where team owner Valentino Rossi is a legend and brand ambassador, is also a consideration for the team led by Uccio Salucci and Pablo Nieto.
