Miguel Oliveira : Jose Mourinho Says MotoGP is Better Than Formula 1

RiderTua.com – Miguel Oliveira posted his best result of the season in his home race at the Algarve Portimao circuit. The Trackhouse Aprilia rider finished in 9th position after beating Alex Rins (Yamaha) at the finish.

However, Oliveira did not have a smooth race. “P6 was possible. But then I was too close to (Marco) Bezzecchi in Turn 1 when he went inside. I passed the curb and lost three positions. Until then I was able to fight well. The start was good and I was able to overtake both riders Yamaha in the race,” said the 29 year old rider.

Regarding the progress of the Aprilia RS-GP, Miguel Oliveira said that he thought it was a small step. It would be better if the power was more, but the feeling is good. Now he’s fully into Aprilia’s racing style, but the bike isn’t working as well as it should. Unfortunately, this somewhat frustrated Oliveira. But this is what they have now. They have to keep working and find solutions.

Oliveira really appreciates the euphoria of MotoGP fans in his homeland of Portugal. “This weekend has been incredible! I’ve only seen this with one rider in the past and he’s retired. Everyone knows what I mean. It’s incredible when the whole country is behind us, I can’t describe the feeling. But it also creates pressure when everyone was shouting our name. Because the fight for the world title doesn’t mean any pressure for me, unless we race here, in Portugal,” said Raul Fernandez’s teammate with a laugh.

At the Portimao GP, the famous Portuguese football coach Jose Mourinho (who also flew the checkered flag at the Grand Prix) was present as the guest of honor. “The way people chant my name here, it’s actually similar to football. Mourinho is currently on holiday and attending the race. He follows MotoGP regularly and he loves it. He also assured me that MotoGP is better than Formula 1 and he has attended a number of races.
