RiderTua.com – Toyota now has two hybrid cars assembled in Indonesia, namely the Kijang Innova Zenix and Yaris Cross HEV. Both of them also sell quite well and are one of the best-selling HEV models here at an affordable price. However, Toyota is already planning to produce electric cars. It’s just that they have only sold one BEV model, and even then they are also conducting further market studies.
Toyota Plans to Produce Electric Cars Locally
The environmentally friendly car market is still wide open for automotive manufacturers in Indonesia, and Toyota already knows very well how they can take advantage of this opportunity. They present many models here, both hybrid cars, PHEV (plug-in hybrid), and electric. It’s no wonder why they are the brand with the most complete environmentally friendly car line-up in Indonesia.
However, for electric cars, they have only sold one model, namely the bZ4X, and even then the model is still imported directly from abroad. Toyota has indeed succeeded in assembling its hybrid cars locally, but not with electric cars. And this is the next target, where they will assemble BEV cars, although currently they are only entering the study stage.

Kijang Innova EV Concept
Indeed, Toyota needs a long time to prepare its production, including looking at the situation in the electric car market. Not to mention that they don’t always present BEV models, and Toyota says they will add another model in the next two years. Even so, they don’t want to rush into starting electric car production in Indonesia.
In fact, they showed the Kijang Innova EV Concept which was based on the old model. Even though Toyota only displayed it to introduce its BEV technology, the model is still being developed today. Of course, they haven’t confirmed whether this concept model can be mass produced or not.
