NHTSA said they had opened an investigation into the problem since June last year, and found the potential cause of this problem. This is the result of excessive electric current, causing the transistor to be damaged so that recharging the 12 volt battery cannot be done. It said they received 30 complaints about this problem from Ioniq 5 and 6 owners in the United States.
To prevent the problem from spreading further, Hyundai decided to immediately carry out a recall in the country.
