GWM Ora Not Ready to be Produced Locally?

However, they don’t have a place to produce it yet, and even then they want to focus on selling models from Tank and Haval first. GWM Ora is also still looking for electric car battery suppliers in Indonesia. Of course, so that the cars he sells can be priced more affordably.

GWM Ora Looking for Electric Car Battery Suppliers

Great Wall Motor Indonesia has three brands that it sells here, although only two of them sell models, and they are SUV models. So that leaves only Ora who hasn’t sold a single car, where this brand only sells electric cars. Of course, GWM already plans to bring its electrification products here through GWM Ora.

If you look, there are several models sold by Ora, one of which is model 03 with a very attractive design. Actually, GWM could have assembled it straight away after they were here for the first time, it’s just that because of the incentive they wanted to get it. Although to be able to get incentives, the electric car must be assembled locally with a local component content level of 40 percent or more.

Electric Car Batteries

GWM admitted that they are currently looking for suppliers or manufacturers of electric car batteries in Indonesia. Later they will form a partner in the production of electric cars here, with the Ora 03 being the main focus. This step is quite good, considering that batteries are always the cause of the high price of electric cars.

Not only does it reduce the selling price of its cars, by using local components GWM no longer needs to import them directly from abroad. Maybe sooner or later they will get a local partner as a battery supplier for Ora 03. Meanwhile, GWM is still managing sales of two other brands, namely Haval and Tank.
