Alex Rins Wants to Stay at Yamaha Despite Many Problems – Alex Rins admits that he has a lot of work to do at Yamaha.. However, he is committed to remaining in the future.. At Yamaha, Alex Rins is faced with a lot of work, although some are successful, some are not going well.. but in principle he is considering extending his contract.

Twice 13th positions are Alex Rins’ best results so far in his first four weekends in MotoGP with the Yamaha M1. This means that he has six points to his name, while his teammate Fabio Quartararo has 25 points. Alex Rins is still trying to get to know the M1 and find the basic settings for himself. At the same time, the development part is also tested. The Spanish rider, who has experience at Suzuki and Honda, has to work in several fields simultaneously.

Rins has signed a contract with Yamaha for the 2024 season. Will there be discussions about the future in the near future? “Of course I think about it, that’s true… But right now I have to concentrate on the bike and work hard to find a good base…” admitted Rins.

That’s why I told my manager that he would have to discuss, but at least I would stay behind on the race weekend. The Spanish rider is part of the puzzle for Yamaha in the process of catching up.

Is the contract extension clear to both parties? “I want to continue here (Yamaha) because the team works very hard and is very good… They are already thinking about next year to improve the bike,” said Rins.

Yamaha’s efforts were clear to see on Monday’s test after the Jerez weekend. There are several new developments. What is clearly visible is the completely new aerodynamics, but also the new chassis. Where according to Rins’ assessment, half of the development was successful. “The aerodynamics are working quite well. I’m satisfied with the tests in this area, we did a lot of comparisons. The chassis wasn’t working well. We can do a lot more with the chassis… We’ve only made small progress, but I hope there are bigger steps in in terms of aerodynamics. We still have a lot of work to do,” said the 28-year-old rider.

“I expected there to be a greater effect with this fairing. But maybe that was my mistake because I had higher expectations for the handling. A little better, but not much.” A week after the French GP, Quartararo and Rins will undergo two days of private testing at Mugello. There the progress will be checked again on the characteristics of different circuits.
