RiderTua.com – It could be said that Toyota has been able to dominate hybrid car sales in Indonesia so far. Of the several models it sells, the Kijang Innova Zenix and Yaris Cross HEV are its best-selling models because they are sold at affordable prices. It’s just that it’s not enough for Toyota to dominate the market as a whole. Because they don’t have a hybrid car at a more affordable price than the Yaris Cross.
Toyota Doesn’t Have a Hybrid Car Cheaper Than the Yaris Cross Yet
There are various models of hybrid cars sold in Indonesia, and several brands sell them. Toyota is among those who have this type of car, even though it has far more choices than its competitors here. It’s just that not a single model is sold for under IDR 400 million, even for models like the Yaris Cross HEV.
Actually, Toyota has plans to present an HEV model at a more affordable price, but it hasn’t materialized yet. In the market, there are already hybrid cars at more affordable prices, such as those owned by Suzuki, namely the Ertiga and XL7 Hybrid. Both are sold for around IDR 300 million, but that’s quite cheap for a hybrid car like this, even though it’s still a mild hybrid.

Compete with Suzuki?
Toyota could indeed present an environmentally friendly variant for the Avanza, considering that this LMPV model is also as popular in its segment as the Kijang Innova. Moreover, Mitsubishi is said to be planning to launch the Xpander HEV in Indonesia. It is clear that Toyota cannot be left behind by its competitors, especially Suzuki, which has already released cheap hybrid cars.
It’s just that they still need time to prepare further. It is clear that Toyota has to do market research first before it can release its cheap hybrid car. Not to mention deciding on the right selling price, but it must be below the price of the Yaris Cross HEV.
