RiderTua.com – BYD now has several electric cars sold on the global market, such as the Dolphin, Atto 3, and the quite popular Seal. However, they want to add more BEV models to the market, especially hatchback cars. So BYD is presenting its newest electric hatchback candidate which is named the Ocean-M. Even though it has only been shown as a prototype model, the Ocean-M will certainly be officially released around the third quarter of this year.
BYD will Launch its Newest Electric Hatchback This Year
The Ocean series is known as BYD‘s car line-up whose name is taken from the name of a sea animal, and whose design is inspired by ocean waves. Models such as the Dolphin, Seal, and Seagull are among the models in this series. Sales are also quite good in several countries, while sales in Indonesia have just started.
Because they still want to expand their product line, BYD then presented the Ocean-M prototype model a few days ago. From the name it can be guessed that this model will be sold as one of the cars in the Ocean series, although it is not clear whether they will later give it a new name. The design looks quite sporty for a hatchback model, with a rear that is reminiscent of the Volkswagen Golf design.
Ready to Launch This Year
Then at first glance the rims look like the rim design on a Lamborghini car, although that is not surprising, considering that BYD cars are designed by former Lamborghini car designers. When viewed from the side, the Ocean-M looks more like a sportscar than a hatchback. Later BYD will use a new platform to make this model, and use the latest generation of cell-to-body (C2B) batteries.
The interior, features and specifications have not yet been shown, obviously because the model is still a prototype. However, BYD confirmed that Ocean-M will be launched this year, to be precise around the third quarter. It is not yet clear whether this model will be sold in global markets like Dolphin and Seagull.
