RiderTua.com – Sales of Great Wall Motor in Indonesia have just started, with models from Haval and Tank being presented first. It’s just that both of them are still imported directly from abroad, although this is only done temporarily. Because Great Wall Motor has planned to start producing its cars here starting in the second half of 2024. In the future, not only cars from these two brands will be assembled locally, but also electric cars from Ora.
Great Wall Motor Plans to Start Car Production
Unlike other brands which bring one or two sub-brands to Indonesia, Great Wall Motor (GWM) immediately presents three brands at once, consisting of Haval, Ora and Tank. It’s just that for the time being they are selling two models from Haval and Tank first, while Ora will follow. Both SUVs are presented in the upper middle segment.
GWM clearly doesn’t want to just sell cars, they will assemble them locally. They already have a production site, which is none other than the Mercedes-Benz assembly facility in Wanarehang, Bogor, West Java. This is clear because GWM and Mercedes-Benz are held by the Indomobil Group, which also holds a number of other automotive brands in Indonesia.

Immediately Start Car Production
They are targeting to start producing the car around the second half of this year if there are no other obstacles. Later, GWM will assemble a number of models, especially environmentally friendly cars which are becoming a new mainstay in Indonesia. Even so, they still haven’t confirmed which model they will assemble for the first time.
GWM said that the models that are prioritized for local assembly are models that sell well in its market. If you look at the selling price, the Haval Jolion could be a good choice, because the selling price is more affordable than the Tank 500 or Haval H6. Although only the H6 and 500 are sold in Indonesia, the Jolion will follow later, maybe wait until production starts here.
