RiderTua.com – When his GasGas Tech3 teammate Pedro Acosta celebrated the podium (finishing 2nd) at COTA, Augusto Fernandez was only able to finish 14th with a difference of 26 seconds. Thanks to finishing 3rd at Portimao and 3rd at COTA, the 19 year old rookie is now in 4th place in the standings and is the best KTM (Pierer Group) rider in the 2024 MotoGP World Championship.
The question is, has Acosta been given priority at Pierer Group regarding new development parts? Fernandez revealed that now Acosta is the best rider at the KTM factory. Pedro Acosta was able to get the best parts from the factory… He was on the podium, the next KTM rider was 9th in Austin. He is also in the best position in the standings. So he deserves to be the first rider to receive the newest parts.”
Augusto Fernandez : Now Pedro Acosta is the Best Rider at the KTM Factory

Pedro Acosta’s extraordinary performance became a reference and a rallying cry for his team. Augusto Fernandez added that they have to understand why he can race so fast. So, they need to take a closer look at what was done in Jerez and copy a few things. All riders did a lot of laps at Jerez. As Fernandez said, Jerez is a good track for this. A test there would also be good for them. It won’t happen in a day, but we’ll see if they can take a step forward.
Regarding Acosta’s data, Fernandez revealed, “Actually there is nothing special, there are several places, for example in fast corners. He has high confidence in the front of the bike, including the brakes. In corners, the lean angle is high. He lets the bike slide, like in Turn 2 at Austin.”
“We have to study the data very intensively. Pedro also uses his body a lot. We also have all the data, so let’s analyze it and continue working on it. We have to take steps at Jerez,” stressed the Moto2 Champion for the 2022 season.
What’s also interesting is PA#31’s statement that it doesn’t go too deep into engine tuning. Acosta emphasized that he was also in Texas with the same basic coordination as the first test in Valencia almost 6 months ago. Whether it was due to the subtlety of the RC16’s set-up or simply Acosta’s mistake, all riders can learn from Acosta’s relaxed attitude.
