Miguel Oliveira : Trackhouse Team Has Lots of Potential

RiderTua.com – Things haven’t gone well for Miguel Oliveira considering that the Trackhouse Team is still in the development stage. The Portuguese rider finished 15th in the main race and 13th in the sprint at the season-opening race in Qatar. Meanwhile, the two Aprilia factory riders, Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, finished 8th and 10th respectively.

Ahead of his home race next weekend in the Algarve near Portimao, Oliveira said: “It’s still too early to understand the impact of American management. There are things we noticed that have a lot of potential, such as Davide Brivio joining the team. He is an experienced team manager who knows everything paddock well.”

As is known, Brivio (previously manager of the Yamaha and Suzuki teams) has returned to MotoGP after 1 season in Formula 1 with Alpine.

The Trackhouse Aprilia Racing MotoGP team is a subsidiary of the Trackhouse Entertainment Group which emerged from the RNF Aprilia team, which was briefly taken over by Trackhouse CEO Justin Marks (a former NASCAR racer) at the end of 2023. Marks actually plans to join MotoGP in 2025, however then the plan ‘jumps’ in a short time. The team structure remains largely unchanged from its predecessor RNF but the management is new.

Even so, Oliveira remains optimistic. “I think in the long term we will be able to bring more experienced people to Trackhouse. Of course that bodes well for the future of the team,” said the 29 year old rider.

Oliveira wants a lot of support from the Aprilia factory for his satellite team. For example, currently the two riders did not receive the latest Aprilia factory bike at the start of the season because Raul Fernandez had to be satisfied with the 2023 version of the Aprilia RS-GP.

“If we have the same support as the other Aprilia riders, then something will happen. The target is open intra-brand competition. Aleix (Espargaro) is currently the only rider who stands out from the other riders because of his riding style which seems to fit perfectly with “We still have some work to do to adapt the bike to our racing style and that takes time,” concluded Oliveira.
