RiderTua.com – Marc Marquez underwent a test on Monday in Jerez for 8 hours. For the newcomer to the Gresini Ducati team, this is not a matter of adaptation but a matter of improvement. Baby Alien sure has taken a significant step forward. After climbing the podium for the first time after a serious injury, Marc Marquez expressed his joy by climbing the fence and dancing on the Jerez stage.

According to Marc, compared to the tests in Malaysia and Qatar, he made a very different statement. At that time he had not yet adapted to the bike, he hesitated and said, maybe yes maybe no in some cases. Now that he had taken such a big step, his comments were very appropriate. Compared to before, the difference is like night and day. This helps the technicians to understand his racing style better, explained Marquez.

Marc Marquez  added that he knows the bike much better, rides it better and can use the good things to his advantage. Now they know whether yes or no on everything. There is no doubt anymore and they know the direction. During the 2 tests and the first race, they hardly changed anything in the set-up because Marc always said that he had to adapt first.

“At Portimao, then I understood where the limits were. Now I am in the final stages of adjustment, just tweaking the set-up. Now the team has to help me eliminate my weaknesses without sacrificing my strengths,” said Baby Alien.

Marc finished the Jerez test in 5th position, only 0.2 seconds behind the fastest rider Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati). He put in his best lap right at the start, and Marquez concentrated on other things for the rest of the day.

“I tried some parts that factory riders already use. If we are fast and can set consistent times, then it will be easier to test things. I believe these tests will help me get better. Things are now moving more in my direction work. And it’s about performance. Gigi Dall’Igna (Ducati racing boss) and the others came to the pits and supported us. This was a productive day,” concluded Alex Marquez’s brother and teammate.
