Jack Miller : I’m Frustrated I Didn’t Intend to ‘Punch’ Morbidelli

RiderTua.com – Jack Miller’s fate at the 2024 Spanish GP is bad. After crashing in Saturday’s sprint, the Red Bull KTM rider landed in the gravel with 8 laps remaining in Sunday’s race. At that time, Franco Morbidelli (Pramac Ducati) forced himself into a gap that didn’t actually exist and dragged the Australian racer down with him.

Jack Miller made a brilliant start from the fifth row, but had to admit that he could not keep up with the pace of the leading group in the long run. Miller got off to a good start and is looking to join the group at the front. He also felt comfortable for 4 laps, but then the other riders increased their speed and I couldn’t keep up. “I was at my limit,” Miller said.

Jack Miller continued, “When Dani Pedrosa overtook Acosta, I tried to stay with him, understand and learn what he was doing differently. Then Franco Morbidelli decided to take a gap that didn’t exist and that’s the reason why my race ended early. This is definitely not the way that’s how I wanted to end today’s race.”

After the race ended, Miller was called to give an explanation to Freddie Spencer as chairman of the FIM management because he was seen almost hitting Morbidelli while he was still in the gravel and had to be restrained by a marshal. “I’m frustrated, that’s true. But I didn’t intend to beat (punch) Franky,” he said convincingly.

Morbidelli’s reaction, which was not captured on the television screen, was truly astonishing. Then the Italian rider confronted Miller about what he had done to him the day before in a sprint race. “I was struck by lightning. I fell on the first lap of the sprint, what did I do to him? Maybe he mistook me for someone else,” continued Thriller Miller angrily.

    New Generation Michelin Tires

After scoring zero points twice at Jerez, Miller is only in 14th place in the standings with 22 points. “I don’t know if a black cat hit me or I fell under the stairs (a myth that means bad luck), because it seems like bad luck is firmly attached to my racing shoes. But I’ve been at the bottom at other times in my career and we keep hoping that “We have reached the end of this darkness. We stay positive, keep working, and luck will come back to us,” explained teammate Brad Binder (finished 6th at the Jerez GP).

Part of a driver’s job these days is coping with the latest generation of Michelin rear tyres. “This tire is amazing when it works and when we can keep it in the right working condition. And that’s what we are working on. Because at the moment I can’t do a proper ‘slide style’ with this tire. I don’t know what happens to the rear wheel. “Right now we are trying to make the bike more stable, with a more flowing cornering racing line,” said Miller.

Jack said that the bike felt comfortable during the warm-up session, but during the race he felt vibrations from the rear wheel that he always had to let go of before he could really accelerate. Their goal in the test on Monday was to make the motorbike more stable without losing grip… concluded Papa Pep Florence.
