Chery Collaborates with JLR to Develop BEV Cars
It could be said that Chery was quite successful after launching the Omoda E5 in a number of countries, including Indonesia. This electric-powered SUV has become one of its mainstays after the Omoda 5, and it is even said that a number of Omoda 5 consumers have switched to the electric model. Sales performance is also quite good, with thousands of units having been ordered here.
As if still not satisfied with its environmentally friendly car line-up so far, Chery is then collaborating with other brands. Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) is interested in developing more electric cars with the brand from the Land of Bamboo Curtain. The two have agreed to share electric car platforms, with Chery being able to get environmentally friendly technology from JLR, while JLR will use the car platform.
Accelerate Car Electrification
This collaboration is not only limited to accelerating car electrification, but also catching up in Europe. Because so far JLR has a fairly limited line-up of environmentally friendly cars, and they can lag behind their competitors. Like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which already have many electric cars in the area.
Indeed, this is not the first time the two have collaborated, because Chery has handled the production of a number of JLR models since 2012 in the Land of Bamboo Curtain. It is stated that the first product resulting from the collaboration between Chery and JLR will be released in the second half of this year. However, it is not clear that the model that will be launched later will still be an SUV model or another type of car.
