RiderTua.com – Marc Marquez won 6 MotoGP world titles and 2 titles in the previous class, 1 title behind his former arch-rival Valentino Rossi. This year, the 31 year old rider will try to equal his tally of 7 titles when he moves from Repsol Honda to Gresini Ducati. Will he easily match Rossi’s record of 9 titles with this Ducati bike or even exceed it? Maybe 2024 is a bit difficult but how will the next 2025 season start? BTW:  at the age of 37, Rossi can still be runner-up in MotoGP (2016), meaning Marc is still around 6 years old. Maybe he could win a total of 15 world titles with the Ducati team? best bike on the grid…!

Early in 2023 when asked about matching Rossi’s achievements, Marc replied, “Valentino is one of the greatest riders, the greatest rider in MotoGP. He is a big legend. Giacomo Agostini is another legend and Mick Doohan too. All the riders who win championships are super riders. ”

“There were those who were lucky to escape injury, there were also those who were less fortunate. Some of them managed to handle the situation better. It’s really exciting, now my name is among these legends,” he added.

In an exclusive interview Marc Marquez also said, “At the moment, I’m not thinking about equaling the record because I’m far from my level. And I can’t approach next season like I did when I tried to win the title. It’s been 2 years since I won a single race. ”

“So with those statistics, we can’t take an approach from one season to the next, like when I won the championship. First, I need to build confidence, build a foundation and then from that foundation I start to get faster and try to improve in the future ahead,” added the racer from Cervera, Spain.

Rossi won premier class titles with two manufacturers, namely Honda and Yamaha, before struggling for 12 years in his failed attempt to win an eighth title. Marquez’s only success came as a Honda racer, but his last title was won in 2019 before he was down for 3 years with a number of injuries and an uncompetitive motorbike. He hopes his move to Ducati next year can reignite his hopes.

When asked, whether MotoGP can compete with Formula 1 for the right to be the most popular motorsport series. The rider nicknamed Baby Alien answered, “At this point, we have to be honest. After the health crisis, MotoGP is working hard to rebuild its popularity.”

“Now, we are part of this show. We are not in the best moment. In 2018 and 2019 MotoGP was more popular than Formula 1. Now it is the opposite. But this is also a competition. They have worked hard. I know that Dorna is working hard to rebuild good performances on the track,” concluded Marc Marquez.
