BAIC Becomes a New Car Brand in Indonesia
In fact, BAIC is not a new car brand, because this brand was first introduced in 1958 in Beijing. BAIC is in fact one of the brands under the auspices of Beijing Automotive Group Co. Ltd, and is quite popular in his hometown. Because they can become the fifth largest automotive manufacturer there.
With the rapid development of the four-wheeled market in Indonesia, BAIC is interested in being present here and bringing its superior products to consumers. Through JDI, they will sell two of their flagship SUVs first, namely the BJ40 Plus and X55-II. Even though they are SUVs, they both appear with designs that are very different from each other, where the X55-II has a more modern design, while the BJ40 Plus has a more retro-modern impression.

Against Jeep et al
The BJ40 Plus has a 2,000 cc 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 221 hp and 380 Nm of torque, which is equipped with an 8-speed transmission made by the German company, ZF Friedrichschafen. Meanwhile, the X55-II uses a 1,500 cc 4 cylinder turbocharged engine which can produce power and torque of 185 hp and 305 Nm. Both are designed to traverse various terrains, including off-road.
If BAIC wants the car to sell better, they can sell it for around IDR 400-500 million. This price has made it more competitive in the market, especially the BJ40 Plus which can become a new opponent for Jeep et al. Later, JDI will assemble the two cars locally.
