Especially after the model entered its latest generation several years earlier, and the Prius was still selling well in its market. However, Toyota recently announced a recall of this model in North America, Europe and Asia. This was done after a potential problem was discovered with the rear door.
New Generation Toyota Prius Recalled Due to Door Problems
Perhaps for a car like the Prius, it is clear that this model has become Toyota‘s flagship hybrid car for the last few years. Entering its latest generation model, the Prius appears more modern with its newest design, and is equipped with more of the latest features. Not to forget, the hybrid technology has also been further improved to maximize efficiency and reduce the emissions produced.
However, cars like the Prius cannot avoid potential problems caused when the model is produced. Toyota has just discovered a problem with the rear door which can come off by itself, and this is quite dangerous if the car is being driven on the road. This problem can arise due to water leaks that can penetrate the inside of the electronic rear door latch.
Recall in Three Regions
Of course, because it is an electronic door, if it comes into contact with water it will cause a short circuit, so the door can open by itself if it is not locked. To prevent this problem, Toyota must recall up to 211k Prius units in three regions. Consisting of 55k Prius units in the United States and 156k units in Japan, Canada, Europe and Asia.
Even though the Prius is also sold in Indonesia, the model provided is still the old generation model. However, Toyota is planning to sell its newest model in the near future. It is not yet clear whether this recall will mean they have to delay the launch.
