Binguo, which is able to become the best-selling BEV model, has just received a price cut of IDR 55 million this month. Not only Wuling, other brands also provide discounts for their electric cars. Hyundai and Kia also do the same thing with the BEV models they sell here.
Wuling and Hyundai Offer Discounts for BEV Models
As one of the best-selling electric car brands in Indonesia, Wuling clearly cannot miss the opportunity to offer price discounts for its cars. Both Binguo and Air EV receive price cuts, amounting to IDR 31-55 million and IDR 19-36.5 million respectively. Of course, this is quite a big discount for BEV models, especially for Binguo which was just released at the end of last year.
Hyundai and Kia don’t want to be left behind and offer discounts on their electric cars too. Although only the Ioniq 5 gets a discount of IDR 45 million, this also includes special incentives for electric vehicles from the government. Meanwhile, Kia provides discounts for the EV6 and EV9, respectively IDR 50 million and IDR 20 million.
Still Selling Well
Meanwhile, other brands such as BYD, Neta, Chery and MG Motor do not offer discounts for their electric cars. But at least sales of BEV cars in Indonesia are still quite good, even though throughout March not a single model sold more than 1,000 units. However, this is due to the large number of models sold here compared to the previous year.
Wuling still holds quite strong dominance in this market, while Hyundai is starting to be outperformed by other brands such as Chery and MG Motor. Even so, they don’t seem to be too concerned about the sales results they have obtained so far. As long as they can present locally assembled electric cars in Indonesia, as well as battery production which will start soon.
