RiderTua.com – The name Wuling Starlight may still sound unfamiliar to consumers in the global market. Obviously because the model was only sold in its hometown, it was only available in a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant when it was first released. But now Wuling is presenting an electric or BEV version after a long time. Interestingly, these two variants can be easily differentiated from their external appearance.
Wuling Presents BEV Version of Starlight Sedan
Sedan cars actually still have a lot of interest in the global market, even though the trend has decreased drastically over the last few years. But this doesn’t make brands like Wuling just stop, and they introduced Starlight (Xingguang) last year. Initially only the PHEV variant was released, before the BEV variant was launched three days ago.
In terms of overall design, there is nothing different between the two variants, except for the fascia. The PHEV version of the Starlight still has a grille, while the BEV version has a simpler design without a grille. It’s true that electric cars usually don’t have grilles like other conventional cars, although sometimes there are those who add them just to sweeten up the appearance.

Eco-Friendly Sedan
Apart from the appearance, the power source is also different, where the plug-in hybrid variant still uses a petrol engine, but is combined with BEV technology. Meanwhile, the electric variant only relies on an electric motor and battery as its power source, and that is enough to minimize the carbon emissions produced. Although usually the speed performance is limited to provide better driving quality.
Starlight has only just been sold in its hometown, although perhaps Wuling has no plans to sell it on the global market. I don’t know if it’s because the trend for sedan cars has decreased drastically or something like that. So they will only sell SUV models. Unless they can consider releasing an MPV or sedan model if the opportunity arises.
