RiderTua.com – Indeed, BYD is known for a number of electric cars sold on the global market. From hatchbacks, sedans, to SUVs, everything is available, and that too in a fairly diverse line-up. One of them is the BYD Bao Leopard 5, a hybrid SUV with a very dashing and sporty design. From its design alone, many call it the main competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Land Rover Defender.
BYD Presents Bao Leopard 5 in Thailand
As previously explained, the Bao Leopard 5 has a design that at first glance is similar to the latest Land Cruiser Prado and Defender. This SUV uses the Dual Mode Off-Road Super Hybrid platform, so it’s not surprising why the model looks so muscular and has a thick bumper. BYD equips it with four-wheel drive to maximize its performance on off-road roads.
As a modern SUV, the Bao Leopard 5 has a pretty good interior, especially with a 12.3 inch digital cluster screen for the driver and front passenger. Then the center of the dashboard also has a 15.6 inch touch screen, with the AC and charging pad placed just below it. BYD even provides a head-up display that measures 50 inches.

Sophisticated and Tough SUV
Even though it is known for electric cars, BYD provides a hybrid engine for the Bao Leopard 5. This model relies on a 1,500 cc petrol engine and hybrid technology which can produce 687 ps of power and 760 Nm of torque. So with this, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/hour in just 4.8 seconds.
BYD just showed this model in Thailand some time ago, although it hasn’t been sold there yet. In his hometown, the Bao Leopard 5 is sold at prices ranging from IDR 637 million to IDR 775 million. Quite affordable for a hybrid SUV like this, although there is no chance whether the model can be assembled locally, because BYD always assembles BEV models.
