RiderTua.com – Kia has now sold its electric car in Indonesia in the EV9 GT-Line model. Even though the price is quite expensive, this SUV is still welcomed in its market by consumers, and has collected hundreds of orders. Meanwhile, Kia has launched another new SUV model in Thailand, namely the EV5. It looks like it won’t be long before Indonesia will also get it.
Kia will Sell the EV5 in Thailand and Australia
The EV5 is one of the electric SUV models that Kia relies on along with other BEV models. So far they only have three EV series models, apart from the EV5 there are also the EV6 and EV9. All three use a platform from Hyundai, namely E-GMP, which is also used by models such as the Ioniq 5 and 6.
However, unlike the EV6 and 9, the EV5 is produced in the Bamboo Curtain Country, then exported to a number of countries. Thailand is the first country to get the model, even though this car was launched last month, Kia will sell it in the near future. The specifications are not that different from the models sold abroad.
Many BEV Models
For Thailand, the EV5 gets three trim choices, namely Light, Air and Earth, as well as two electric drive options. Each of these variants has power of 215 hp and 308 hp, although the second option is only given to the Earth Exclusive variant which is the highest variant. Its dimensions are smaller than the EV9, but the inside of the cabin is spacious enough for five passengers.
With the presence of the EV5 in Thailand, there is an opportunity for other countries in the Southeast Asia region to get the model. Including Indonesia, where Kia presented the EV9 here several months ago. They might consider it, even though the units have to be imported directly from the Bamboo Curtain Country.
