RiderTua.com – Electric cars sold in Indonesia now offer models at quite affordable prices. Like the Wuling Air EV which is sold for IDR 300 million, and that is quite cheap. However, the price of an electric car like this is still not affordable. Especially if the battery is still imported from abroad or imported.
Electric Cars Are Still Sold at Quite Expensive Prices
Sales of electric cars last year were still quite good, with thousands of units sold in Indonesia. But if you look, the average selling price can reach IDR 500 million, or even more than that for premium class cars. However, the sales results it obtained were still quite good, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 which sold more than 1,000 units.
The cause of the high price of electric cars is due to the batteries, where these components are still imported from abroad. Even though someone already produces cars, the batteries are not assembled locally, so the price becomes more expensive. However, there is already a brand that will start production, namely Hyundai.

Hyundai will Assemble Batteries
They will assemble batteries locally for their electric cars sold in Indonesia, with the Kona Electric being the first model to get them. If this really happens, the selling price should be more affordable than the old model, or at least the price will drop by 30 percent. But it depends on Hyundai’s decision, because they haven’t announced the official price until now.
Electric cars that use locally assembled batteries can reduce their prices by up to 20 or 30 percent, depending on the model type. It is hoped that more manufacturers will also do the same thing as Hyundai, but of course that will take much longer. Apart from that, sales of electric cars still need to be increased further if we want to achieve sales targets in the next few years.
