RiderTua.com – Suzuki only has three hybrid cars in Indonesia, consisting of the Ertiga, XL7 and Grand Vitara. Even though all the models are mild hybrids, sales are quite good every year, even with quite tight competition in the market. Because it only provides three models, Suzuki can present other hybrid models. As long as the market conditions allow it to release a new model.
Suzuki May Present Another New Hybrid Car
As previously explained, Suzuki hybrid cars are only mild hybrid models, but sales are quite good. The XL7 Hybrid is the second best-selling HEV model in Indonesia with 7,898 units sold last year, and the third best-selling model is the Ertiga Hybrid with 5,728 units. Meanwhile, the Grand Vitara has only sold hundreds of units, but sales are still considered quite good.
With these results, Suzuki sees high demand for hybrid cars in Indonesia. So they plan to release another model, and it may still be presented as a mild hybrid model. Although they could present a regular hybrid car, even a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) if the market allows them to sell the model.

Local Production
If they later release this new model, Suzuki will open up the opportunity to assemble it locally, such as the Ertiga and XL7 Hybrid. So far they have more full hybrid cars sold on the global market, but not necessarily all models can be sold in Indonesia. Not to mention there are types of cars that have little demand here, so they have to do market research before they can sell them.
Despite this plan, Suzuki still doesn’t want to talk further about it. Moreover, they are still focused on selling existing models, as well as meeting the high demand for models other than HEV from consumers, such as the Jimny. Still, the plan to bring more environmentally friendly cars to Indonesia sounds pretty good.
