RiderTua.com – Electric car or BEV batteries are still a problem for automotive manufacturers around the world because they are quite expensive. So a number of brands have started to assemble them themselves so that later they can be sold at more affordable prices. It was stated that several manufacturers would concentrate BEV car battery production in Indonesia for the Southeast Asia region. With this, Indonesia is also the first country to assemble it in this region.
BEV Car Batteries will be Mass Produced in Indonesia
The number of electric cars sold in Indonesia continues to increase every year, not to mention new brands arriving here. Brands such as BYD and Great Wall Motor (GWM) have sold environmentally friendly products, or are planning to sell them. Meanwhile, a number of brands already assemble them locally, such as Wuling, Hyundai and Chery.
It’s just that some of them are still priced quite expensive because the price of the battery affects the selling price of an electric car. So Hyundai has a solution, namely assembling its BEV model batteries in Indonesia, starting this year. So far everything is running smoothly, especially with the Kona EV being the first model to get the locally assembled battery.

More and More New Brands
Of course, with Hyundai being a pioneer in the electric car market, more and more other brands are also starting to catch up. So there is an opportunity for more brands to assemble BEV batteries so that the selling price can be cheaper. Even though it requires a long time and quite a bit of investment.
Even though that is not a problem, it will actually give Indonesia the opportunity to catch up with other countries in terms of car electrification. It could even become the first country in Southeast Asia to produce electric car batteries. Of course, this opportunity should not be wasted.
So far, only Hyundai has assembled its electric car batteries here. But in the future the selling price of the car could be more affordable.
