RiderTua.com – Suzuki has just introduced a hybrid car in Indonesia, but all three of them use mild hybrid technology. Even though they actually have full hybrid cars that are sold abroad, especially in India. Suzuki has actually known about this for a long time. However, they prefer to sell mild hybrid cars due to several considerations.

Suzuki Has Various Environmentally Friendly Car Variants

Hybrid technology in cars is not only limited to ordinary hybrids, there are also mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids (PHEV) sold on the market. It’s just that for brands like Suzuki, they only offer mild hybrid models for the Ertiga, XL7 and Grand Vitara. In fact, if you look, they actually also have full hybrid cars abroad.

The Grand Vitara itself actually has a full hybrid variant, only this technology was developed by Toyota. Then there is also the Escudo Hybrid which is sold in Japan, using a hybrid engine made specifically for sale there. Even though it has this variant, Suzuki admits that it cannot focus on selling this type of car in Indonesia because they still want to sell environmentally friendly cars at affordable prices.

    Focus on Mild Hybrid First

Suzuki explained that mild hybrids are able to provide a more affordable car selling price compared to full hybrids. They said that the entry level car market still lacks cheap environmentally friendly cars sold in Indonesia. So they focused on developing an entry level model equipped with mild hybrid technology.

Even though the Grand Vitara has a full hybrid variant, because the technology was developed by Toyota, Suzuki cannot sell it here. It is clear that cars produced in collaboration with Toyota can only be sold in India and its surroundings. Bringing it to Indonesia may not only be considered strange, but also doesn’t make sense considering that both of them compete with each other in their markets, especially in the hybrid car market.
