RiderTua.com – Wuling has just announced Cloud EV orders, including estimated prices and delivery of units to consumers. This electric car was presented to complete its electric car line-up after the successful release of the Air EV and Binguo previously. However, Wuling has to face new competitors in its market in Indonesia. Like the BYD Dolphin which is both a BEV hatchback car like the Cloud EV.
Wuling Faces Tight Competition in the BEV Market
In terms of design, the Cloud EV has a very modern and elegant appearance, while the Dolphin looks very simple like a car in general, but still has a modern design. The dimensions of both are almost the same, although the Dolphin has smaller dimensions compared to the new Wuling car. But the Cloud EV has slightly more spacious cabin space, even though there is no difference in terms of wheelbase.
Cloud EV relies on a lithium-ion iron phosphate battery which has a range of 460 km. This is still less than the Dolphin which has a range of up to 490 km with an LFP blade battery. Although now BYD offers the cheapest option with less mileage than the Cloud EV.
Electric Hatchback
For the price, Wuling sells the Cloud EV at an estimated price of IDR 410 million, and the price may change with changes in the market. While the Dolphin is priced slightly more expensive, namely IDR 425 million, the cheapest variant is only priced at around IDR 375 million. In fact, when compared to the Cloud EV, the Dolphin is still imported from abroad, at least for now.
Sales of Wuling electric cars are still number one in Indonesia. Of course, this means BYD has to face its strongest competitors here, not to mention the tight competition in the BEV market. It is clear that Wuling with Cloud EV is an equal opponent for Dolphin, especially since both were only launched this year.
