This SUV is the latest model from the Omoda line-up which has been its flagship for so long, as well as a higher variant of the Omoda 5. Indeed, Chery will sell it in its hometown. But they opened up the opportunity to release it on the global market, especially in Indonesia.
Chery Launches Omoda 7 PHEV First
Looking at the design, at a glance the Omoda 7 looks similar to the Omoda 5, although with larger dimensions. Apart from that, the exterior design has been made more minimalist, of course to emphasize its identity as an environmentally friendly car, or to be precise a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) car. It is not yet clear when Chery will sell it in his hometown.
They themselves are planning to launch it in the global market, especially Indonesia. Because Chery still lacks environmentally friendly cars to sell here, especially in terms of HEV and PHEV models. Chery also said that the hybrid car market in Indonesia has enormous potential, making it possible for them to present cars like the Omoda 7.
Plug-in Hybrid SUV
However, because the model has just been released, Chery is still waiting for the right time to present it here. Including waiting when incentives for hybrid cars and the like can be implemented here, because so far there have only been incentives for electric cars. They will be waiting for further certainty regarding when Omoda 7 can be sold in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Chery is also busy increasing the level of domestic component content in the Omoda E5. Of course they do this so the model can get incentives, but at least the model can be assembled locally. They also plan to sell other environmentally friendly cars, such as PHEVs through the Jaecoo brand, although the launch schedule is still uncertain.
