Even though they are superior in selling cheap cars, especially LCGC cars which have been one of the contributors to their sales so far. Daihatsu has remained ahead in this segment with Sigra for the last three months. Still, they still face resistance from rivals such as the Honda Brio Satya.
Daihatsu Still Leads the LCGC Segment in Indonesia
LCGC car sales throughout March increased by 2.8 percent compared to the previous month. Still, Daihatsu still leads this segment with the Sigra, where the LCGC 7-seater model sold 5,674 units. This result makes it superior to other competitors, including the Honda Brio Satya which sold 4,770 units.
Even though it can’t beat Sigra, at least Brio Satya can still maintain its position in the top three. Meanwhile, Toyota Calya is still in third position with 3,510 units sold, followed by Daihatsu Ayla which sold 1,737 units and Toyota Agya 1,149 units. Last February, Agya was able to outperform Ayla’s sales results, but a month later her sales experienced a decline.
Far Superior to its Rivals
Only Sigra, Brio Satya and Calya were able to sell more than 2,000 units during the first three months of this year. The Brio Satya itself is a 5-seater LCGC car, but its sales are much higher compared to the Ayla-Agya. In fact, it can still fight its strongest rivals such as Sigra, while Calya always trails Honda car sales.
Still, Sigra is still far ahead of its class rivals in Indonesia. This model continues to record quite good sales results for Daihatsu. It is not surprising why Sigra is still relied on as one of the contributors to its sales so far.
