RiderTua.com – Suzuki has presented three environmentally friendly cars in Indonesia, which are hybrid variants of the Ertiga, XL7 and Grand Vitara. However, unlike hybrid models in general, all three use mild hybrid technology. In fact, Suzuki could have used ordinary hybrid technology in its cars. Although there is a reason why they chose mild hybrid.
Suzuki Uses Mild Hybrid Technology for its Cars
In terms of electrification, Suzuki is still unable to present the latest models like its competitors. However, they have launched environmentally friendly variants for the first time in the low MPV and low SUV segments through the Ertiga and XL7 Hybrid. Then followed by the Grand Vitara which was released in the compact SUV segment.
However, if you pay attention, all three of them use mild hybrid technology. Suzuki actually has regular hybrid technology, and can just use it on their cars, but they prefer mild hybrid. Suzuki admitted that they did this because they wanted to present a hybrid car that was not too expensive.

More Affordable Prices
They did this because they realized that the price of batteries was still unaffordable even if they were assembled locally. Of course, this is an obstacle for them in presenting environmentally friendly cars at more affordable prices. So Suzuki chose a mild hybrid to use on the Ertiga, XL7 and Grand Vitara.
Even though they use a mild hybrid, the sales performance of the three is still quite good. In fact, the XL7 Hybrid is the most widely sold model in the market, and this also applies to the Ertiga. But if you look at the market, the LMPV and LSUV segments have not yet been penetrated by environmentally friendly models.
Despite relying on this technology, they do not rule out the possibility of presenting another hybrid version in Indonesia. As well as adding more other environmentally friendly variants.
