RiderTua.com – Honda has so far not sold a single electric car in Indonesia. Meanwhile, a number of competitors have already offered superior BEVs at affordable prices. However, Honda considers this to be less effective in attracting consumers’ attention to buy it. Because there are several things that make Indonesian people reluctant to buy electric cars.
Honda Still Doesn’t Sell Electric Cars in Indonesia
Sales of electric cars in the last few months have remained quite stable despite unfavorable market conditions. Last year alone, the results reached 10 thousand units, although they have not been able to catch up with sales of hybrid cars which exceeded 50 thousand units. But at least it was a pretty good result when compared to the previous few years.
Of the several car manufacturers in Indonesia, Honda is one of them that does not yet sell electric cars. In fact, if you look, they have a number of models sold abroad, such as the e:N1 which is planned to be produced in Thailand. They even brought the ‘e’ model last year, even though the unit was used as a study, the model itself has been discontinued since last month.

Lack of Supporting Facilities
Honda is aware that more and more new electric cars have been released in Indonesia in the last few months. However, they think that alone is not enough to increase consumer interest in buying it, especially at an affordable price. Because the lack of supporting facilities causes consumers to delay buying electric cars.
Apart from that, consumers are still worried about the resale value of electric cars which is not like petrol or hybrid cars. Many are also worried that their battery will run out of power when driving long distances. So Honda is still looking for a solution to overcome this problem.
Of the several BEV models it sells, the e:N1 is quite promising for sale here. Still, they want to find technology that is suitable for use according to road conditions in Indonesia.
