RiderTua.com – After a bad start to the season by finishing 21st at the Qatar GP, Jack Miller was the 2nd fastest rider in Friday practice at Portimao behind Enea Bastianini (Ducati). Of course, this is a very positive result for the Red Bull KTM rider.
Miller said, “Obviously it was a good day. The conditions weren’t what we expected, it rained all night. The bike worked well, as it has all year. It was great to show and try! There are areas we can improve on the hard tire and soft. It’s great to get through to Q2, that’s the first job done. How do I feel this afternoon when I set a lap time on the hard tyre? I’m happy.”

Jack Miller had a crash at the start but bounced back with confidence. When asked whether the Algarve circuit suited his bike, the Australian rider answered, “The old KTM was probably more maneuverable. All bikes now use a longer wheel base. But, our bike is suitable for that.”
“Starting from turns 1 to 3, we can go through it well, then follow the white racing line around the inside, which used to be quite difficult for Ducati. So this is a track that suits our bike. Qatar also suits our bike. I don’t I feel bad. I just can’t put it together,” added Papa Pip Florence.
Miller is confident he can reach the podium this weekend. “I think every week otherwise I won’t show up. But obviously it looks more realistic this week. I felt very uncomfortable after the race in Qatar, but that’s another story. We have a good package. We just need to start with it’s good to align and we can do a good job,” explained teammate Brad Binder.
Miller underwent a rigorous fitness program before the start of the 2024 MotoGP season, but was unable to show off his hard work due to poor results in Qatar. Miller worked extremely hard in the off-season, and in the week between Qatar and Portimao, to exhaust every option and train himself physically and mentally. He said he had never eaten so much fruit in his life. “I tried everything!” concluded Thriller Miller while laughing.
