RiderTua.com – Since the 2023 Silverstone GP, in MotoGP only the 60 minute practice session on Friday afternoon counts towards direct entry into Q2. From this season onwards, Moto3 and Moto2 riders will also be able to work on Friday mornings in the first session of a weekend race without time pressure. The reason is, the exercises which are now simply called ‘free practice’ are no longer used to determine the combined time sheet.
Unlike MotoGP, riders from Moto3 and Moto2 have two sessions, namely Practice 1 on Friday afternoon and Practice 2 on Saturday morning to place themselves in the top 14, thereby getting a direct ticket to qualifying 2 to be completed on Saturday afternoon.
