RiderTua.com – BAIC is officially present in Indonesia and brings two of its flagship SUVs. One of them is the X55-II, where this medium SUV appears with a sportier and more modern design, different from the BJ40-Plus which has a retro-modern design. Because it is placed in the medium SUV segment, the BAIC X55-II is a new opponent for a number of its competitors here. Including Chery Omoda 5 and Wuling Almaz who happen to come from the same country.
BAIC X55-II Becomes New Opponent for Omoda 5
As is known, when compared to the BJ40-Plus which appears in a retro-modern style, the X55-II has a more modern design. The front fascia is minimalist but still shows a sporty style like an SUV in general. BAIC explained that they presented a car like this so that it could be accepted in the market with current trends.
As an SUV, the X55-II is equipped with a 1,500 cc 4-cylinder turbocharged Magic-Core engine, developed by BAIC and META Engineering from Germany. With this engine, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, and has a 7-speed Double Clutch (DCT) transmission. This alone can provide maximum performance for an SUV like the X55-II.
Medium SUV model
Because it uses front-wheel drive or FWD, the X55-II can be an equal opponent for the Wuling Almaz and Chery Omoda 5. Coincidentally, both are also medium SUV cars from manufacturers from the same country as BAIC. Although maybe BAIC doesn’t really mind if this car has to face its two rivals again.
If only the X55-II had an eco-friendly variant, this model could compete against the Honda CR-V, and the price would probably be much different from each other. However, BAIC doesn’t have this variant yet, but the engine developed with META is enough to produce a high-performance SUV.
