RiderTua.com – Toyota has several environmentally friendly cars sold on the global market, from hybrid to electric. They also sell plug-in hybrid or PHEV cars, although the number is still quite limited compared to regular hybrids. So Toyota will develop more PHEV cars, especially in the Bamboo Curtain country. It turns out they want to use PHEV technology from BYD.
Toyota will Develop More PHEV cars
Although Toyota has many hybrid cars it sells, they also have PHEV models. Although they do not sell all their models in most countries, even then their product line-up is still limited. Even with the RAV4 PHEV it sells it isn’t enough to provide dominance in its segment over time.
Meanwhile in the Bamboo Curtain country, they still want to expand the plug-in hybrid model to provide more choices for consumers. Toyota was then interested in using BYD’s PHEV technology, where they have DM-i (Dual Mode Intelligent) technology. This technology is said to be suitable for use in Toyota cars which will be launched in the next three years.

Only Sold One Model in Indonesia
Even though BYD is known as an electric car manufacturer, they also sell a number of PHEV cars. One of them is the Song Max MPV, which is his best-selling car in his hometown, as well as the Shark pickup which he has just shown. Even though they have a fairly complete line-up of PHEV cars, it seems like BYD relies more often on BEV models in the global market.
Unfortunately, this latest PHEV car from Toyota will only be sold in the Bamboo Curtain country. Meanwhile in Indonesia, Toyota only sells one model, namely the RAV4 PHEV, and even then this model only has one variant. Maybe they want to focus on selling hybrid cars, or the models they have are still limited.
