Throughout two decades, Daihatsu has sold around 730k Xenia units in Indonesia. The sales figures are quite high, especially since these results have been obtained for 20 years.
Daihatsu has Presented Xenia for 20 Years
Daihatsu car sales over the last few months have been helped by models such as the LCGC Sigra and the Gran Max pickup. However, they still sell other models on the four-wheeled market in Indonesia, including the Xenia. It’s clear they maintain this LMPV car because it has been around for two decades and through three generations.
The Xenia (and Avanza) were first launched in 2004 in Indonesia, and at that time the models immediately received a good reception in the market. During its first year, the Xenia sold 22k units, while the Avanza reached 43k units. Since then, the Avanza has always recorded higher sales results than its twin until now.
Flagship MPV Model
Indeed, if you look at it, the Xenia is priced more affordable, but it is less popular than the Avanza in its segment. Although that is not a problem for Daihatsu, as long as they can provide cars at affordable prices, and with features that are adequate for low MPV models. Over two decades, the Xenia and Avanza have gone through three generations, with the newest generation being released in 2021.
Now the LMPV market is getting busier with many new models being released, of course with more rivals than before. However, Xenia is still Daihatsu’s mainstay in this segment, especially in providing cars for first-time buyers. They still maintain it even though the Sigra and Gran Max Pick-Up are better sellers.
