RiderTua.com – Valentino Rossi revealed his pupil Pecco Bagnaia’s anger at the Spanish GP. Even though the factory Ducati rider celebrated victory in the main race at Jerez, the day before Pecco was very angry. His sprint race ended in a clash with Brad Binder (KTM), and the rider from Turin, Italy, did not agree with the stewards’ decision that it was a racing incident.

“Pecco was very angry. Because in the sprint there are riders who race without thinking about other riders. He felt fast in dry conditions and as he told me on Sunday morning he started the race with confidence and did everything well,” said Rossi.

The MotoGP legend added that Pecco came from behind, doing a double overtaking on lap 6 because it was a matter of imagination, talent and a little madness. “The most important thing is, he didn’t give up even when Martin crashed, because there he could have stopped thinking about the world title, but instead he immediately made Marc Marquez understand that it would be difficult,” added the 44 year old former rider.

The owner of the VR46 Racing Team added, “We can give a score of 10 out of 10 for his race. Pecco was very good in the duel, he made it clear that he would not give up even if Martin crashed. He still had a few things that he managed to avoid. He was very fast in the corners right. That’s a great satisfaction. Skepticism towards Bagnaia? I want to understand who these last skeptics are!”

BTW, rider and student Marco Bezzecchi finished the Spanish GP by winning his first podium this year. “We had a good chance because he started on the front row and was able to make the most of it by getting a very important podium,” said Rossi.

Rossi’s first arrival in the 2024 MotoGP paddock at Jerez had a positive impact. 2 students at the VR46 Academy, namely Pecco Bagnaia and Marco Bezzecchi, were on the podium 1-3, flanking Marc Marquez who finished 2nd.

With this victory, Pecco managed to reduce the gap to 17 points from standings leader Jorge Martin (Pramac Ducati).
